Phoenix is a bit of LA-lite in the middle of the desert. No Faux Angeles would be complete without a mod concept hotel complete with sexy staffers and equally cheeky clientele. In what looks like a Scandinavia-meets-Southwest motor lodge, the James offers a visually impressive lobby and main building that houses a buzzing bar and an outpost of New York’s Fiamma Italian Osteria.
Eyecandy abounds. Complete with two modeling agencies in the lower lobby, and half a staircase away from the lobby bar, the hotel is constantly flooded with the lithe and gorgeous. Warm weather brings the residents of the lower level out into their natural foliage; the sprawling two-pool water complex. The James’ gym is well stocked and has an excellent vibe for both exercise and mingling. There is an outdoor spa with a complete service menu that can be enjoyed poolside in private tents. Faboloso.
The concierge staff at the James is probably amongst the best versed in Phoenix with regards to upscale nightlife. Make no mistake, Phoenicians enjoy stepping out for a night of libations and flirtations. Be sure to save time for pre-game at the James Bar either before or after your night’s itinerary. Cheeky cocktail recommendation: the James Bar makes a pretty good martini.
