Today’s lesson is about the classic French word – ombré which means shaded or graduation from light to dark.

I love the use of ombré in my design projects because of its subtle transition from light to dark which is unique and interesting in fabrics often used to create fabulous pillows and window treatments.

The recent launch of designer Sally Sirkin Lewis’ new ombré line for J. Robert Scott marks the beginning of the use of ombré in a modern, innovative way.

Founder and president of J. Robert Scott, Lewis designed and developed the high polished decorative finish technique for its used on wood veneers to create a subtle, transparent effect of color from light to dark on a single piece of furniture.  She is the first in the industry to introduce this technique on wood surfaces and the result is simply amazing.
